William “Bill” Gordon Allison
January 28, 1956 – February 12, 2025
On February 12, 2025, William “Bill” Gordon Allison was received into glory, where he now rests in the presence of his Savior.
Bill was born on January 28, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to Betty Jane Allison (Cotton) and George David Allison. He was a beloved brother to Patricia Ann Cotton Fenner (Stephen), Alice Allison, Donna Allison, Morris Allison, and Kathleen Allison.
Bill was a loving husband to his wife, Julia Leigh Allison (Wiard), and a devoted father to William Allison Jr. (Dana), Jordan Allison (Sarah), Eli Allison (Nicole), Alexis Higgins (Shea), and John Jacob Allison. He was also a proud grandfather to Morgan, Kamrann, Kyleigh, and Kelsey through William Jr., as well as Gideon, Shiloh, and Elijah through Jordan. Bill was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Cho'zyn.
Bill began his career in the restaurant industry, working alongside his father at The Novelty Food Bar, one of the first Black-owned restaurants in Columbus and the city's first 24-hour family dining establishment open to Black patrons. He later transitioned into car sales, spending much of his career at Mathews Ford in Newark, Ohio.
A man of deep faith, Bill was a dedicated member of World Harvest Church, where he served as an usher for over 30 years. He was known for his hard work, his ability to care for and connect with strangers, and his ever-present friendliness. Bill had a natural gift for conversation, an impeccable sense of style, and a love for cooking.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at World Harvest Church in Canal Winchester, Ohio. A receiving line will follow the service, allowing family and friends to gather and remember Bill’s life.
Bill’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to those around him will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
