Walter “Chet” Howard, 81, born in Saylersville, Kentucky in 1941 to Lottie Gamble and Young Howard, went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2022.
Walter met Wanda in 1959. They married and had four children: Glen, Cheryl, Sheila (Dee), and Jody. Walter had his own contracting business in Marion for 40 years. He was known for his love of clocks and watches of all kinds. His hobbies also included restoring antiques and visiting flea markets.
Walter was preceded in death by both his parents, and his siblings: Hassle, Ransom, Halmer, Jackie, Darby, and Reva.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda (Tootie); his children: Glen (Amanda) Howard, Cheryl (Eric) Klinger, Dee Ross, and Jody Howard; his siblings: Billie Joe, Gordon (Pookie), Paul, Allison, Tootie (Wanda) and Nora; his grandchildren: Stefani, Kaleigh, Shelbie, Miranda, Ewan, Courtney, Corey, Kelsey, Kylie, Kyle, Justin, Austin, Eriel, Baylee.; and 16 great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on February 25 at 11am in the Marion Naz Kensington Campus, located at 369 Kensington Pl, Marion, OH 43302. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been established to help cover expenses.
