For us, it is with both great sorrow and great joy that Vernon A. Vanyo, 78, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 17th at 11:35 p.m. and went to his Father in Heaven forever. He was a faithful and loving husband to his surviving wife of 54 years, Carol (Galat) Vanyo. He was predeceased by his sister Marianne (Vanyo) Sowick. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Vanyo, sister Charmaine (Vanyo) Voris, three sons: Jon Vanyo, Eric Vanyo, and Todd Vanyo (and their spouses), fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. After graduating from Kenmore High School, he spent some time pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy at Ohio State University, and went on to pursue and complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Ultimately, Vern spent the majority of his working years in the construction trades as a bricklayer for Akron area contractors, including Duer Construction Co.; but His greatest passion was turned outward towards others - that they would tangibly and practically know the love of his heavenly Father through the salvation freely provided by His Son Jesus Christ, and in his own life laid down in service to others. It was Vern’s wishes that there would be no funeral, however a memorial service is being planned at Crossroads / Ontario Christian Fellowship in Mansfield, Ohio on Saturday, December 4th at 11am with lunch to follow.
