Tom

Thomas Edward Spillman, affectionately known as Tom, passed away on June 6, 2023, in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 7, 1965, Tom was the beloved son of the late Sara and Raymond Spillman.

Tom was a graduate of Linden-McKinley High School, where he excelled academically and forged lifelong friendships. He was always known for his hardworking nature and the dedication and commitment he brought to every task he undertook.

Tom was a devoted and loving caretaker for his mother, Sara, in her later years. His unwavering commitment to her well-being was a testament to his compassionate nature and the deep love he had for his family.

Tom was an avid sports fan of the Browns and Bengals, with a particular passion for The Ohio State Buckeyes. He could often be heard cheering "O-H-I-O" during game days much to the delight of his friends and fellow fans. Tom’s love for sports extended beyond his allegiance to the Buckeyes, Browns, and Bengals as he enjoyed participating in various activities with his friends, including fishing, bowling, shooting pool, and playing golf. Tom also had a passion for listening to music; his taste was eclectic, but his favorite genres were old school rock, 80s music, and dance hits, often being seen jumping up to dance along to his favorite tunes when they came on.

Throughout his life, Tom was a true friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand or a kind word. His wit was sharp, and he was quick to make friends. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Tom’s memory will be lovingly cherished by his extended family and numerous friends. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched so many hearts with his kindness, laughter, and unwavering spirit. Tom also changed lives after his passing with his selfless act of being an organ and tissue donor.

May Thomas Edward Spillman find peace knowing that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he enriched during his time on this earth.
