Thomas Joseph Crowl

October 15, 1965 — April 23, 2024

Oct. 15, 1965, - Apr. 23, 2024. Born to Thomas V. Crowl and Ellen G. (Kemp) Albright, the fifth child and only son, born after his four sisters. Originally from Canton, OH, previously Cincinnati, OH, Chicago, IL, and South Miami Beach, FL, and most recently Columbus, OH.

Fabulous brother and incredible friend to Becky and Chuck Duplain, Cindy (Brian) Adams, Connie (Larry) Townsend, Christine Hummel.

Thomas was adored and loved by his nieces and nephews: Amelia Joy Duplain, Chadwick Thomas (Matthew) Zoyhofski Duplain, Trey Duplain, Michael (Connie) Heppner, Jordan Herndon, Jeremy Herndon, Joshua Herndon, Melissa Comfort-McRae, Alex Horn, Kelly Fulk, Stephen Fulk, several great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by beloved nephew Christopher Heppner, step-dad Charles H. Smith, grandmother Mary June Meese Kemp Kovacs, great uncle Joseph Minkus.

If you knew Thomas, you knew how protective he was of his sisters and nieces, whom he always affectionately referred to each as his “Kitten” and who could do little wrong in his eyes.

Thomas had an extraordinary knack of connecting with people, understanding what was important to them, and choosing their happiness above his own.

Thomas was well respected from his time as a waiter in very cool, elite restaurants like The Maisonette in Cincinnati and Wish in South Beach Miami. He knew how to connect with people and make them feel seen and important. In his ever classy, charming, and humorous way, he would share stories about waiting on famous people like Chris Farley, Mick Jagger, Carol Burnett, Will Smith, Oprah, Owen Wilson.

Thomas’ ability to connect with people anywhere and everywhere was evidenced by the many nurses, protective service, and other healthcare workers he touched at Grant Medical and Infusion Center, including his friends, Janis and Brendan.

A very heartfelt, special thank you to Matthew Zoyhofski Duplain (affectionately referred to as “Cutie” by Thomas) for being his personal nurse and helping the family usher Thomas to his final sleep.

Per Thomas’ wish, his cremated remains will be returned to the Earth and a private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
