Stephen Randall Scheel

Stephen Randall Scheel (Steve), 69, Delaware, Ohio, passed away on December 29, 2020. Steve was born on July 29,1951 in Columbus, Ohio and was the son of the late Charles and Mary Scheel. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Scheel and step-son, Alexis Rivera. He graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1969. He played basketball, baseball, football and swam while attending school and was part of their 1969 OOC Championship Basketball team. He was an accomplished swimmer as a member of the Gahanna Sea Lions Swim Club and dreamed of going to the Olympics. After high school he began his career as an electrician; retiring from the IBEW Local 683 in 2010 after 40 years of service. He lived for his work as an electrician; and in his rare leisure time he enjoyed golfing, swimming, basketball, mowing his immaculate lawn and spending time with his family, friends and beloved golden retriever, Maggie. “Looking back, I think I exceeded my hopes & dreams.” He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Blanca Chafit Scheel, daughters, Amy (Keith) Boesch, Stephanie (Nathan) Kellenberger and son, Zachary Scheel; Grandchildren, Alex (Miranda) Jeffers, Abigail (Emily) Jeffers, Andrew Jeffers, William and Sarah Kellenberger, Anna and Zach Boesch; Great-grandchildren, Eleanor, George, Piper and Euriah, along with his sisters, brother and many nieces and nephews. The family will gather to celebrate Steve with a private memorial and no public service will be held.
