Sidney Joseph Markwell, known as Sid to his friends and family, took his final ride into heaven on February 3, 2024, at the age of 70 in Hillsboro, OH. Born on July 30, 1953, in Cincinnati, OH, he was a man of great courage, boundless love, and an adventurous spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Sid was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Debbie (Ford) Markwell, and his parents, Phyllis Jean (Davis) and Alfred Joseph Markwell. He leaves behind a legacy of family who adored him, including his sister, Donna (Jack) Bowen; his four children, Phillip (Linda) Markwell, Billy (Brenda) Markwell, Jodi (Abdul) Markwell Shabazz, and Sidney (Rosicela) Markwell; and his grandchildren, Crystal, Jacob, Alexander, and Roseline.
Sid's nephew, Michael Kratzmeier and niece, Jackie (Levi) Pierson, and, along with great-nieces and nephews Alex (Emily), Christian, Allison, Chloe, Claire, Katelyn, Morgan, and Lydia, will hold dear the memories of their fun-loving and free-spirited uncle.
Sid's best friend, Billy Lainhart, will forever cherish the countless memories they made together. Their bond was one of brotherhood, and Billy's companionship provided Sid with a source of strength and laughter throughout the years.
Sid was a master of his craft, spending his working years as a highly skilled roofer. He was known for his expert craftsmanship and his willingness to share his knowledge with others in the industry.
As we bid farewell to Sid, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man dearly loved. Sid's story does not end here, for his legacy will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched. His laughter, his courage, and his adventurous heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A celebration of Sid's life will be determined and announced at a later date.
