Shanna Evelyn Jones

Shanna Evelyn Jones lost her battle with Leukemia on September 24th, 2020, at the age of 44 years old. She transitioned peacefully, surrounded by her family at The Ohio State James Cancer Hospital. Shanna was born on March 15th, 1976, to Melvin J. Jones and Cecilia A. Nelson-Jones in Bossier City, Louisiana. Shanna was determined to graduate from high school early. She attended North Education Center and received her GED Diploma at the age of sixteen. She attended Columbus State Community College and took various courses from August of 1996 to June of 1999. Shanna worked at various jobs over the years, and her last place of employment was at the JCPenney’s Call Center in Columbus, Ohio. Shanna was a passionate person who cared about her family and close friends. In her free time, she loved spending time with her granddaughter. She was in love with the food industry, and she had dreams of opening a restaurant and food truck one day. Shanna was a hard worker, determined, and a fighter. She fought for everyone she loved and for what she believed in. She overcame many struggles, and no matter what obstacles she faced, Shanna never let it taint her heart. Shanna is survived: by Cecilia A Nelson-Jones (Mother), Kierra A. Jones (Daughter), Ni’Aira A. Russell (Granddaughter), Siblings: Joseph J. Jones, Maggie (Anthony) Walker, Jeroma Jones, Jessica Jones, and Mary Jones. She also leaves behind her special friend Deno Hanna and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she loved dearly. Shanna is preceded in death by Melvin J. Jones (Father), Nettie Kinard Johnson (Grandmother), Anthony, and Verna Nelson (Grandparents). Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family will be honoring Shanna’s wishes by having a small private Celebration of Life event on Saturday, October 24th, 2020, from 4 pm-7 pm for close friends and relatives.
