Richard M. Walters

Richard (Rich) Morgan Walters, 83, passed away under the care of Hospice on May 1, 2022. He was born January 19, 1939 in Congo, Ohio and was the son of late George and Pauline (Roesel) Walters. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Barbara (Barb) Walters (Petersen), brother William Walters and son Richard Edward Walters. Rich served in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He later founded a commercial cleaning and painting business in Florida which he successfully operated with his wife Barb until retirement. After retiring, they relocated to Lamoure, North Dakota so that they could be close to her family. After Barb’s passing, he relocated to Central, Ohio to be closer to his children. He was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with his family and friends. He was a happy, fun loving and caring person and will be greatly missed by all. Richard is survived by his sons Alan (Laura) Walters and David (Sharen)Walters, and daughters Rebecca (Joe) Russell, and Diana (John) McElheney; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many friends. A private celebration of life service will be held for his family on Saturday May 21st from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sycamore Creek Community Church located at 8100 Refugee Road Pickerington, Ohio 43147. A private graveside funeral service will be held at St. Ansgar Cemetery Lamoure, North Dakota on September 10, 2022 beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please consider submitting a donation to the Alzheimer Association in honor of Richard.
