Rebecca Lynn Baer, 47, of Marion, Ohio has sadly passed away from her hard battle of Pancreatic cancer on April 15th of 2023.
Born on August 2nd of 1975 at 10:21pm at Marion General Hospital, she was the daughter of Paulette Sue Gay and Jackie Lee Baer.
Rebecca (aka Becky) is survived by her parents and her 3 children, twins Alec and BreAnna and her youngest Dillon Baer. Rebecca also had 2 younger brothers, Jack Jr. and Zachary Baer and a younger sister, Mary Baer. She had 2 nephews, Deonte and Austin Baer, and 2 nieces, Emily Baer and Haley Baer. She also left behind 2 beautiful grandchildren Lukas Baer, who just turned 6, and 1 ½ year old Jaxon Wu. She also had 2 beloved aunts, Jackie Ransome and Chris Crawford, that had taken her on multiple adventures.
While Becky was all about her family, she also had an incredible love of animals. Her fur babies included 3 birds, Gizmo, Honey, and Alfie, her 4-legged daughters, Shasta, Kaycee and Lily, and her 4-legged hardheaded son, Rocky. She also had 2 4-legged sisters, Harper and Gemma. Last but not least, her pond included a countless number of koi and goldfish, every single one having a name. Needless to say, they were all an important part of her life.
Becky graduated from Marion Harding High School in June of 1993. In 1992, she was granted a certificate of achievement from Bowling Green State University from the Department of Business Education. Growing up, Becky was the best sister she could be. Her mother constantly working, Becky would watch over her brother and sister. Mary recalls her sister was practically like another mother. Inseparable growing up, they were always getting into some sort of trouble but nothing outrageous. Her laugh was memorable, full and joyous.
Becky enjoyed working outdoors and volunteering at the local animal shelters. She loved getting her hands dirty. She worked for ODOT in Union County and Marion County for years. She loved every moment there, with plowing the snow off the roads being her favorite. When she was not working, she was always doing some kind of outside work with her daughter. She always felt dirty hands were the best way to show you got something done. She would also state “she was the daughter of a damn genius” whenever she would accomplish something.
In 2014, she purchased her dream home. It was a fixer upper, completely empty. But Becky had a lot of visions for her home. Yet her pride and joy was her pond. She and her nephew, Deonte, had dug it out with only shovels. Though unfinished, one day it will be completed. Becky enjoyed hosting cookouts with her family and holidays at her home. Family meant everything. Even through the rough times, she still loved them with everything she had.
Becky was a loving, fun, and adventurous soul. Throughout her battle of Pancreatic cancer, she never wanted anyone to worry about her, always telling everyone she was alright. Despite this setback, she still fought through the days to get out there and made it a point to fully enjoy life. She made goals every day and her aunt Jackie and daughter BreAnna would help her keep moving to achieve them. Aunt Chris would help take her to appointments and plan vacations. Mary and BreAnna would take care of the fur babies so Becky could go worry free and have a great time.
The world got a lot lonelier without her. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. Rebecca, Becky, Bec, sis, daughter, grandma, and mamma... you are and always will be deeply missed.
Becky will be cremated and wanted a celebration of life held at her home. She wanted a cookout to be held with friends and family, filling their tummies while sharing memories or old photos with her children. A butterfly memorial release will also be held.
The celebration of life is set for Saturday May 27th 2023, at her home located 1955 Cramer Road, Marion, Ohio 43302 at 3:00pm.
A Facebook page has been created to keep in touch for her celebration of life. Please follow “Rebecca L Baer, celebration of life” for more information.
