Phyills Berniece Wilkes

Phyllis Berniece Wilkes, age 86, passed away September 11, 2023 in Newark, Ohio.

She was a devoted member of Christian Apostolic Church, Newark Ohio. She enjoyed preparing meals, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and rooting for the Buckeyes. The many friendships developed with her church family were of great importance to her.

She was born in Baltimore Ohio to Emerson and Inez Carpenter June 1937. She is survived by Jerry B. Wilkes, her husband of 63 years; son Jerry L. Wilkes (Debbie Thompson); daughter Susan L. Loveless (Bill); grandchildren Danyel Wilkes (Dakota Szabo), Allen Brodess, Andrew Brodess and Markus Wilkes (fiancé Breyanna Jackson). Also survived by brother-in-law, John Wilkes (Donna) and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by sister Sharon Post (Wayne), brother Mike Carpenter (Carol) and nephew Danny Wilkes.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Christian Apostolic Church, 22 North 23rd St. Newark, Ohio 43055. Visitation with family from noon to one. Service at 1, officiated by Pastor Keith and Dr. Janice Sjostrand.
