Muriel Jean (Blanton) Compton, 75, of Centerburg, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. She was born to parents Carl Blanton and Marvine (McDonald) Blanton in Jackson, Ohio on May 18, 1947. She graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1966, despite a devastating car crash in which she lost her mother, and ended up hospitalized for several months. Muriel worked many jobs over the years; a factory worker making popcorn, as a waitress a number of times, custodian at Centerburg High school, the Salvation Army and Goodwill, as a caretaker, and the most trying and meaningful of all as a Mother and Grandmother. Not just for her 4 boys, but for dozens of other children along the way. She treated all kids the same as if they were her own. Muriel met Jerry R. Compton in 1972, and together they had 4 children: Travis Blanton, Ray Compton, Allen Compton, and Paul Compton. Muriel is survived by her four sons, Travis, Ray, Allen, and Paul; her many grandchildren, great grandchild, and surrogate children/grandchildren to many to name. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl; her Mother, Marvine; and her brother, Dean. A Celebration of Muriel's life will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Allen's home, 6139 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon, Ohio (that's at the corner of Route 13 & Sycamore Rd.). "Feel free to bring any food and drinks, I'll try to have some hotdogs and Tea. Hope to see you all then."
