Mildred Louise Newman

August 4, 1939 — March 9, 2021

Mildred Louise Newman, of Newark, Ohio, passed away on March 9, 2021. She was born to the late Carl O. Freeman and Elva M. Freeman on August 4, 1939. Mama said goodbye to us today. We sat with her during her final days and laughed at memories of Yahtzee, Mexican Train, Spoons and hide the thimble. We remembered all the quilts she has sewn over the years and the warmth and love they have given. Cherished memories of road trips and adventures with her were recounted and held close. What a strong, vibrant, feisty woman she was! We watched Mama’s eyes light up as she spoke to each of us and found joy in her funny grin when we joked with her. She is loved. She is at peace. Our hearts were full to overflowing when she gathered enough strength to sing with her friends from Southgate Church of Christ, where she was a joyful family member for over 40 years. Her love for God and her church family knew no bounds. Speaking of knowing no bounds, Mama’s life was fruitful! She had seven children and is survived by six: Theresa, Lynne, Blake, Cynthia (Larry), Carla (Terry) and Tony (Kim). We gave her 23 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren (with one more on the way!) and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mama also dearly loved her nieces and nephews who she said always brought her great joy. A memorial service will be the Southgate Church of Christ on March 20, 2021 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mid-Western Children’s Home or Southgate Church of Christ.
