Michael R. Howard

Born on the 20th of December 1947, Michael (Mike) Howard was born in Marion Ohio. He graduated from Harding High School in Marion, Ohio and immediately entered the Army and served in 1st Cavalry Division (airmobile) active in An Khe, Phong Dien, Bien Hoa, as well as the 1st armored division- where he was noted to be sharpshooter, and also aided in transporting the dead and wounded from the battlefield where they could receive care and be sent home to their loved ones if necessary.

Upon his return, he had various jobs until finding long-term work for Whirlpool for many years. After Whirlpool, he worked as a realtor, prison guard, and invested in multiple properties over the years. Through his many careers and investments, he was always on the lookout for something new or trying to find a new opportunity.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching sports (especially the Cleveland Browns). Many weekends were spent teaching his kids how to fish and golf and helped cultivate their enjoyment of sports and the outdoors. He loved to be out on a boat in Lake Erie fishing for walleye or anything else he may snag. Mike seemed to know everyone and it was hard to go many places without seeing a friend or hearing a story or two about him.

He is survived by his daughter, Monica Howard, Darren (Amanda) Howard, Jared (Sarah) Howard, sisters, Wanda and Deborah, and numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Beulah, his stepfather Charles Robert, his brothers Darrell “Johnny” and David, and his sister, Brenda.
