Michael John Hiscar

August 28, 1954 — August 11, 2021

Michael John Hiscar, a longtime resident of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 11th at the age of 66 at Fairhope Hospice Pickering House. Mike is survived by his wife, Trish Padley; his children, Kait (Trip) Schneck, Emily (Glenn) Arnold and Zachary Hiscar; his grandchildren Imogen and Maddon Schneck and Beau and Belle Arnold; his sister Janice (John) Overdorff, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Rose Hiscar and his sister JoAnn Cecconi. Born in August 1954 near Finleyville, PA, to many he was lovingly known as “weasel” for his small stature, but quick and feisty ways around football and baseball fields. An all-star in his own right, he attended West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in forestry. He served in the Peace Corps in Niger West Africa, returning to the states awaiting Trish’s graduation to marry and begin their life together. During his 37 year career with The Department of Interior (Office of Surface Mining) they lived in three states, welcomed their three children Kait, Emily, and Zachary, finally making Pataskala their home in 1986. He was a lover of all trees, the environment, wood working, golf and was a life-long coach for his three active children and many others growing up in the Pataskala soccer world. He attended countless baseball, basketball, soccer and lacrosse games throughout high school and college careers. For many years he was the public announcer for the Watkins Memorial High School boys soccer team, he also also umpired Ohio High School baseball and recreational softball. One of his proudest moments was watching his boys, (most of whom he had coached from age eight until they joined the high school team at Watkins) win the soccer state championship in 2004. This beautiful, selfless man fought so hard to overcome a complicated surgery in late March of this year. He fought for his family more than for himself, but it was too much for too long. The family is so grateful for all the love, prayers, and support throughout this journey. He is our champion and he finally rests in peace. We hope everyone can join us to share memories and stories as we celebrate his life at the Foundation Park Shelter (10255 McIntosh Rd. Pataskala, OH 43062) Saturday September 11th from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in his honor to the Von Hippel Lindau Alliance. Donations may be made at https://www.vhl.org/give/donate/
