Melvin Eugene Brown, born on July 28, 1946, in New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away in his home in Newark, Ohio, on August 1, 2024, at the age of 78. A Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Melvin’s life was shaped by his service and the lasting physical and emotional effects of the war.
A skilled craftsman, Melvin spent much of his life in his garage, building race car engines, painting cars, and working on anything mechanical. His dedication to his work and passion for cars left a lasting legacy.
Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Esther (Nethers) Brown; his father, Glenn Brown; his sister, Joan Albright; and his brother, Marvin Brown. He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Northup and Shirley Jacobs; three daughters, Angel Brown, Rachel Brown, and Michelle Brown; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He now rests at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273. His family asks that you honor his memory by spending time with your loved ones and prioritizing your mental health.
