Mary Marie Bowman

March 26, 1984 — January 23, 2023

Mary Marie Bowman, 38 of Mt. Vernon, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home 01/23/2023, from cancer.

She was born 03/26/1984 in Riverside, California to Anita Parsons and the late David Merk Sr, where she spent most of her childhood. She then moved to Tennessee where she spent her teenage years and most of her adulthood.

Mary worked varies jobs through her young life but the job she valued the most was being called mommy. Mary Marie will be greatly missed, she was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt.

I will never forget the winter of 2002; Mary had found out that she was going to be a mother. She was scared and excited. Mary was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was happiest when she was at home surrounded by her favorite people.

Mary was a ray of sunshine, she made friends everywhere she went. Mary helped everyone she could and if she couldn’t help you, she found a way. She loved rodeos, tractor pulls, but most of all she loved to dance. We spent many weekends dancing until we couldn’t dance any more. I remember when she was pregnant with Austin and Lindsey, I was terrified she would dance those babies out. She would just say oh hush they aren’t going to come out and she would just dance even more. She sure had a way of getting to her point across.

If you knew Mary you knew she was a huge Cowboys fan, whether they were winning or losing she didn’t care if there was a Cowboys game on, she was planted in front of the TV. She would throw things at the TV and yell at the players as if they could hear her. Watching a football game with Mary was an experience all in itself.

Losing Mary is the hardest experience her children will ever face, it’s hard to go through life without your mother, your best friend. I know her children will be strong as that is how Mary raised them. Mary was one of the strongest women I know.

Mary loved her family deeply, and is survived by her mother Anita Parsons of Oklahoma, her step dad Gayle Parsons of Oklahoma, her brother Mike Williams of Washington, her brother John Williams and sister in law Natalie of Texas, her daughter Destiny Smith of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, her son Austin Fitzgerald of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, her daughter Lindsay Jefferson of Pensacola, Florida, her adopted daughter Kia Tullos of Ohio, her boyfriend Dustin Adams and daughter Ari Adams of Ohio, her adopted sisters Patsy Mayfield-Shaner of Clarksville, Tennessee and Holly Smith of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, her nieces and nephews Miranda Lingle of Texas, John Williams of Texas, Michael Mayfield of Clarksville, Tennessee, Taylor Mayfield of Clarksville, Tennessee, Emma Croghan, Wyatt Croghan and Chole Smith of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Mary was preceded in visiting heaven by her father David Merk Sr. and her brother David Merk Jr.

Her wings were ready, although our hearts weren’t. God saw you getting tired when a cure was no to be. He wrapped his arms around you and whispered “Come to me” he knew you didn’t deserve what you were giving, and it was time to rest, God’s Garden must be beautiful, he only takes the best.

In lieu of flowers the family is taking donations that can be sent to Leaf Cremation of Ohio at 1970 Alum Creek Dr, Columbus, OH 43027.
