Mary Kathleen Fidler

Mary Kathleen Cronin Fidler, age 73, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on JANUARY 2nd, 2023 in Lancaster, Ohio having succumb to Sepis, a complication resulting from the treatment of Uterine and Cervical Cancer.

Mary was born January 28, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio, the Daughter of Thomas Joseph Cronin and Freda Louise Hayslip. She is survived by her two children Brian and Sean, her Grandchildren Alec, Kearston, Bree, and Killian, and her older siblings Alice, Beverley, Jimmy, and Gill.

A Southside native, Mary was a member of the last class to Graduate from St. Mary's High School, German Village 1968. Over the years Mary was a member of the Shamrock Club of Columbus and The Daughters of Erin, she was proud of her Irish heritage.

Mary worked for the State of Ohio, Department of Taxation, retiring after 30 years. More recently, she was working part time for Duke-Dutchess, performing food preparation as a means to pay for her much anticipated trip to Ireland.

Mary was adventurous, she loved to travel and plan vacations, having reached destinations such as Vatican City and Costa Rica. She was adamant about spending time with her friends from childhood and making new memories. Mary earned her PADI Open Water Diver certification in 1977, she also participated in Volkswalking throughout the US, and she went camping from the shores of the Florida Keys to the Mojave Desert in California.

Mary was a life long supporter of Veterans and Service Members, both her father and oldest son Served. As a child Mary participated in many Veteran support activities with her father, a WWII Veteran who Served in the Army Air Corp and was an active member of both the American Legion and VFW. Later in life, with her son a Navy Veteran, having been a member of the VFW, DAV, and American Legion, Mary continued with her support via donations to the USO and various Veteran Organizations.

In accordance with her wishes she is to be cremated, there will be no showing or funeral. A Memorial will be held in her honor for friends and family in June, to be announced.
