Manfred Anton Lorenz

January 28, 1942 — June 25, 2020

Manfred Anton Lorenz was born January 28, 1942 in Neunkirchen, Lower Austria. He was the middle child and only son of Alfred Rudolf Lorenz and Frieda (Koppel) Lorenz.  Following the end of World War II, the family relocated to Linz, Austria. While there Manfred began his apprenticeship training as a dental technologist following in his father’s footsteps.  A talented musician, during his young adult years he played in a European band called “Freddie and the Hurricanes”. Manfred played saxophone, keyboard, clarinet, drums, and guitar. He wrote and scored music his entire life until he was no longer able to do so due to illness. He loved classical, pop and country music.  In November 1963, he married Ingrid Hildegard Lorenz of Wels, Upper Austria. Three children were born to this union: Alfred Ludwig, Michael Christian, and Barbara Ingrid. The couple divorced and Manfred relocated to Toronto, Canada.  In Canada he attended George Brown University and became a licensed Registered Dental Therapist. Soon after, he opened his own successful dental laboratory, Lortech Dental.  Manfred married Gertrude Schulz of Prambachkirchen, Upper Austria. Two children were born to this union: Robert Manfred Gerald and David William. Eventually, the marriage dissolved.  Manfred brought his three children from Austria to Canada and raised them with his other two sons as a single dad. He made sure the older children were all educated and trained in the family business.  After 29 years in Canada, Manfred relocated to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he opened yet another laboratory. A Western buff, he traveled extensively throughout the western United States visiting famous sites from the history of the Old West and collecting fascinating memorabilia along the way.  He loved to talk about anything western and would gladly show you his souvenir and gun collection. In 1998 he again relocated, this time to Las Vegas, Nevada and opened a dental lab there. It was in Las Vegas that Manfred met the Reverend Elder Tyna (Yarborough) Valentine in 2009. The two married in 2010 and soon relocated back to her hometown of Columbus, Ohio settling first in the Old Pickerington area and eventually in Etna-Pataskala.  An avid train hobbyist and animal lover, Manfred collected trains and designed amazing layouts with scenery that he constructed himself. He also collected dogs, three of whom (Cody, Wolfi and Buffy) are still in the home.  Manfred is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tyna; four sons: Alfred, Michael (Regina), Robert (Danielle), and David (Lisa) Lorenz; one daughter: Barbara (Robert) Walker; 13 grandchildren all of Canada; two sisters, Frieda (Christopher) Mackey of Andover, England, U.K. and Gerda Affenzeller of Linz, Austria; one deeply devoted sister-in-law, Ruthanne Bess of Etna-Pataskala; many family members and friends.  The family of Manfred Anton Lorenz is extremely grateful to the doctors and nursing staff of Mt. Carmel East Hospital and Mt. Carmel Health Systems Hospice for the sterling care given to him during his time of sickness.
