Linda S. Ruhl

September 26, 1946 — September 9, 2023

With Linda's family by her side, Our Lord extended His hand to her on September 9, 2023 offering her grace, peace, and eternal life.


Linda S. Ruhl was born September 26, 1946 in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Richard (Corky) Thomas and Leatha (Woodward) Thomas.


She graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1964 and attended Franklin University. She retired from Ross Laboratories (Abbott Nutrition) after many years with the company.


Linda was married on December 26,1965 to Fred E. Ruhl who predeceased her on February 18, 2022. They were married for 56 years.


Linda enjoyed baking her famous carrot cake and salads, decorating for holidays, making floral arrangements, antiquing, and collecting Depression Glass, angels, and Jim Shore art.


She was an active member of Richland Road Church of Christ, Marion, Ohio where she assisted her good friend, Gwen Siler, in organizing a group of widowed ladies called "Women of Purpose" who met monthly for support, camaraderie, and activities.


For many years she and Fred raised Cairn Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, and Morgan Horses all of which enjoyed frequent trail rides together.


Linda was extremely thankful to have the love and support of many special friends...John and Aleyna Brodman, Anne Voight, Janet Kidwell, Karen Thibodeau, Bob and Judy Mileff, and Jennifer Miller.


Family was very important to Linda and she and Fred were supportive and very proud of their nieces and nephews. They also mentored Cory Nichols, who held a special place in their hearts.


In addition to her husband of 56 years, Linda was predeceased by her sister, Nancy M. (Thomas) Himmer, her In-laws Henry S. and H. Jean (Shepard) Ruhl, and Great niece and nephew, Sophia and Quinn Olsen.


Linda is survived by her Brothers-in-law Louis J. Himmer of Blacklick, Ohio and Rodney S. (Rick) Ruhl of Marion, Ohio. Sisters in-law Sue L. (Ruhl) Olsen (Robert) of Kelseyville, CA., Judy K.( Ruhl) Renfrew (Michael) of Mansfield, OH. Nieces Kristie Beth (Himmer) Knox (Mike) of Tulsa, OK; Tamara Lynn (Himmer) Erick (Matt) of New Albany, OH; Hazel Dawn Ruhl (Matt Crowley) of Columbus, OH; Jennifer M. (Renfrew) McGowan (Troy) of Mansfield, OH. Nephews Shawn M. Renfrew of E. Stroudsburg, PA; Brian Olsen of Lake Oswego, OR; Kevin (Audrey) Olsen of Anthem, AZ; Jeffrey Mullins of Upper Sandusky, OH. Great Nieces Brianna K. (Knox) Wall (Dayne) of Dallas, TX; Alexa E. Knox of Tulsa, OK; Malea Erick of New Albany, OH; Zoe McGowan of Mansfield, OH; Angelina and Emma Olsen of Anthem, AZ. Great Nephews Lukas A. Knox of Dallas, TX; Noah T. Erick of New Albany, OH; Logan McGowan and Luke McGowan of Mansfield, OH. Great-great Niece Charlie Beth Wall of Dallas, TX. Cory Nichols (Bailey) who was very special to her. And her "fur baby"-Cairn Terrier "Bella".


Linda's ashes will be interred with those of her late husband's, Fred, at the National Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Seville, OH.


A memorial service honoring Linda will be held at Richland Road Church of Christ, Marion, OH on October 6, 2023 at 4pm.
