Larry C. Barnes, 78, passed away on May 1, 2024, at his home in Parkersburg. He was born March 23, 1946, in Parkersburg, the only child of Clyde Barr Barnes and Lillian Mae Hayhurst Barnes.
Larry loved to hunt and fish and spend time outdoors. One of his greatest joys was teaching his children and grandchildren to hunt and fish.
He was an Army veteran and had served in the Vietnam War. He had been a carpenter and roofer for many years and also an OTR truck driver.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice Hanlon Barnes, two daughters; Michelle Linger (Casey) and Cassandra Barnes, both of Parkersburg, two step-sons; G. Allen Wood (Tammy) and Thomas Wood Candace), both of Parkersburg. Two grandchildren; Tyler Barnes (Emily) and Halle Linger (Corey Masten), both of Parkersburg. Three great-grandchildren; Ethan Barnes, Evelyn Barnes, and Colter Masten.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend, Max, the Boxer.
Larry wanted no viewing or services and he would haunt me if I tried to do that so we won’t.
The family will have a memorial gathering at a later date.
