Kaitlyn Nicole Dildine

October 7, 1999 — July 28, 2021

Kaitlyn "Katy" Nicole Dildine, age 21, of Columbus, Ohio, died in her sleep on July 28, 2021. She was born on October 7, 1999 at Mount Carmel East in Columbus, Ohio, to her parents, Danielle Mundy and Matthew Dildine. She was preceded in death by her sister (Juliana), her father (Matthew), and her great grandmother (Joan), and joined on August 23rd by her grandmother (Anne Mundy). Katy left us far too soon; she never got the chance to experience some of the most amazing aspects that life has to offer. She was a talented artist and writer, was passionate about animal advocacy, had the quirkiest sense of humor, and was not shy about standing up for what she believed in. Katy grew up as the eldest of three children between Danielle and Matthew. After leaving home in November of 2017, she took the opportunity to travel for a few years, meeting people and testing out various career paths, before returning to Columbus. Katy often talked about going to nursing school. In her eyes, her greatest accomplishment was the birth of her son. Katy was a loving mother, and beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed and the world is going to be just a little bit darker without her in it. Katy is survived by her son (Elijah Daniels), her mother and stepfather (Danielle Mundy and Stanley Gorski), siblings (James, Kelsey, Ana, Lukasz and Paeton), grandparents (Terri and John Kauff, Bret Mundy, and Linda Dildine), a plethora of loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and her "adopted" sister, Arreona Frost. A memorial has been planned for Katy on September 8, 2021 at The Whetstone Shelter House in The Park of Roses at 3901 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214. It is Halloween themed, costumes ARE encouraged and it will run from 5:30pm to 10:00 pm. If you'd like to send flowers, Katy's favorites were dark red roses and sunflowers, but we do feel that, in lieu of flowers, Katy would have liked for donations to be made to The Period Pantry Project. This is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women obtain sanitary period items. https://www.theperiodpantryproject.org/donate. "Your life was a hypothesis. Those who die old are made of the past. Thinking of them, one thinks of what they have done. Thinking of you, one thinks of what you could have become. You were, and will remain, made up of possibilities." -Édouard Levé If you would like to share a memory of Katy or offer a message of condolence for her family, please visit her Tribute Wall.
