Juanita Messer

Juanita “Nita” Messer (Styers), 91, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on January 2, 2022. She was born November 14, 1930, in Clemmens, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Hubert Styers and Bernice Webb (Woods). She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Raymond A. Messer. Nita worked as a nurse’s aide before working alongside her husband, Raymond, at Midwest Mart in Dayton, Kentucky for many years. During that time, she was also a homemaker, who cared for her children, her grandchildren, and her mother over a span of more than 60 years. Nita was a beloved mother and grandmother who brought great joy to many lives through her spunk and humor. There are no words to describe how greatly she will be missed. She is survived by four children: Raymond B. Messer (Marie) of Chipley, Florida; Dana L. Hurlburt (Roger) of Orlando, Florida; Marc D. Messer (Ann) of Palm Coast, Florida; and Aaron K. Messer (Angela) of Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by several grandchildren, including Jesse Messer, Zina Clare, Tania Philpot, Leilani Messer, Michelle Gentil, Marc Andrew Messer, Matthew Messer, Lauren Boyd, Adrian Taylor, Dalton Howard, Darien Messer, Dylan Messer, Briana Messer, and Zoe Messer; many great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be scheduled at a time and place selected by the family. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that donations be made to arborday.org/memory in Juanita Messer’s name.
