John Elsworth Fick

John Elsworth Fick, age 67, crossed over to his Heavenly home on March 4, 2024 after a battle with cancer. He passed peacefully with his son and daughter by his side.

John was the son of Donna Fick (Shaw) and Ralph Fick. He grew up in Logan and Nelsonville, Ohio. He married Penny LaFollette, with whom he had two children, Sarah and Christopher. Throughout his life, John worked to serve others through his involvement with the Cub Scouts, the Lion’s Club, Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, and his Amateur Radio Club’s Community Response Team. He enjoyed camping, cycling, and raising brackish water fish. His life’s greatest accomplishment was the caring children he raised. John is remembered for his humor, his generosity, and his big heart.

John is preceded in death by his sister, Debra Sue Fick. He is survived by his brothers, Doug and Alan, his children, their mother, his daughter-in law, Jennifer Fick (Davis), and his granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Karlee, and Morgan. He is also mourned by his Amateur Radio friends and his friends at ChristWay Community Church in Pleasantville, Ohio.

A celebration of life and memorial tree planting will occur this August. Details forthcoming. All are welcome to attend.
