Joan Elaine Woodruff

Joan Elaine Woodruff, age 83 of Dunkirk, died on June 1, 2023. Born on November 30, 1939, in Carey, Ohio to the late Harry Allen and Zelma Lela (Kinley) Putnam.

Joan graduated from Findlay College in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in Education. She went on to teach second grade at Hardin Northern Schools in Dola, Ohio, from 1982 through 2009.

Joan's joy in life was spending time with her family. She married Gerald Keeran on October 5, 1957, and they had children Tamara (Rob) Stuber and Calvin (Joy) Keeran. Gerald preceded her in death on May 25, 1966. Joan later married Vern Woodruff II on August 21, 1971, and he survives. Together, they had children Vern (Carla) Woodruff III, and Lisa (Matt) Schott.

Joan was preceded in death by her sister Genny (Reed) Price, grandson Kaleb Von Allen, and daughter-in-law Joy Keeran.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her surviving grandchildren are John (Ashley) Stuber, Justin (Valerie Kohlwey) Stuber, Jesse Stuber, Vern Woodruff IV, Carl Woodruff, Mariann Woodruff, Melea (Zane Whitaker) Allen, and Mason Schott. Her great-grandchildren are Claire Stuber, Olivia Stuber, Jaxon Stuber, and Lennox Stuber.

Joan was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church of Kenton, where a celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 3 pm, following visitation from 2 pm to 3 pm. Burial will be in the Dunkirk cemetery after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hardin Northern Scholarship fund or Walnut Grove Youth Fellowship.

Joan will be remembered for her kind heart and her love of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
