Jeffrey A Harris

July 26, 1955 — August 31, 2024

Columbus

Jeffrey Alan Harris passed away August 31st, 2024, at the age of 69.

Jeff was born July 26th, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio and was a graduate of Whetstone High School, class of 1973.

Jeff met the love of his life, Cynthia, on July 3rd, 1972, and they have been inseparable ever since. They married on June 22nd, 1974, and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They raised their 3 beautiful children in Westerville, Ohio, a place they were proud to call home.

Jeff loved and cherished his family dearly. He was affectionately known as Poppy by his grandchildren and loved ones, a moniker he was proud to wear. Poppy was an animal lover and bird enthusiast who took pride in knowing his feathered friends were always well-fed when they came to visit his backyard.

Jeff enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. He was an avid golfer and craftsman who worked in the construction industry for over 45 years. He loved to work with his hands and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with those around him. He was a Buckeye through and through, a diehard Cleveland sports fan, and loyal Browns backer.

The world was a better place because of Jeff. He will be remembered as someone who was always there to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on. He never knew a stranger and would gladly give you the shirt off his back.

Preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Dorothy Harris.

Survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Harris; children, Addie Harris, Katherine Severson, Jesse Harris; daughter-in-law, Heather Harris; son-in-law, Blake Severson; grandchildren, Kobe, Miles, Harris, Millie, Ethan, Hadlea. He is also survived by his two brothers Thomas and David, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeff was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.

The family appreciates the loving care provided to Jeff by the impatient staff at Ohio’s Hospice of Central Ohio at the Wexner Medical Center. Those who wish to acknowledge Jeff’s passing are encouraged to donate to your local animal shelter.
