James Riley Dowalter Jr.

James R “Jimmy” Dowalter Jr. age 52 of Marengo, passed away Sunday morning November 5, 2023.

He was born on May 11, 1971 in Marion, Ohio to the late James R Dowalter Sr. and Edna Mae (Delong) Dowalter.

“Jimmy” enjoyed attending the Apostolic Christian Church of Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was a faithful member of the celebrate recovery meeting held at the church weekly. He shined a light on the recovery community as he encouraged all to trust in the Lord. If you knew “Jimmy” you knew his ability to quote scripture. He was passionate in applying scripture to his life’s valleys and mountain tops.

“Jimmy” was a jokester and loved to make others laugh. He was known to be the clown in the room, looking to make anyone smile. He will be remembered by his ability to bring cheer.

He will be deeply missed by his children Michael Dowalter, Hannah (Carson) Marsh, Emily Dowalter; wife Elizabeth Dowalter; brother Eddie Dowalter; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins

A celebration of life will be held at six o’clock in the evening on Thursday, November 16th 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Church (1635 Old Delaware Rd, Mt. Vernon, OH, 43050). If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Apostolic Christian Church.
