James Okey Caynor

James Okey Caynor, age 73, of Centerburg Ohio passed away Monday December 6, 2021 at his home, peacefully in his sleep. James was born November 2, 1948 in Columbus Ohio to the late Okey and Martha (Berry) Caynor. He completed his education from West High School Prior to joining the US Navy in 1966, where he served overseas in Vietnam. Following his return home from the war he married his sweetheart Peggy Glenn. He went on to attend Muskingum Technical College earning a degree in mechanical engineering. James later changed direction and was employed by the USPS for 20 years. During his service at USPS, James also obtained his Captain’s license and would take charter boats out on Lake Erie every weekend. Following retirement James and his wife Peggy enjoyed traveling locally and abroad, gardening, hunting and fishing, woodworking and spending time together. James is survived by his wife of 52 years Peggy (Glenn) Caynor, his son Andrew (Regina) Caynor; two grandchildren Dakota (Harley) Caynor, Cheyenne Caynor; great granddaughter Paislynn Caynor; brother John Caynor, and his beloved beagle dog Hank. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister Susan Caynor Maggard. At James request, no funeral services will be held. Family and close friends will gather for a celebration of his life.
