James Herbert Baird

James Herbert Baird, age 73, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 25th, 2021. Jim was born October 25th, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to the late Paul Edgar Baird and Esther Marie Kaiser Baird. He is survived by his loving daughters, Jane (Neal) Koerner and Esther Baird, and grandchildren; William Koerner, Marie Koerner, and Rose Koerner. Preceded in death by brother, Dr. Paul (Marsha) Thomas. He is also survived by his loving siblings; Gary Baird, Barbara (Randy) Southwick, Tim (Linda) Baird, Jacqueline (Mike) Moraitis, and Terry (Patti) Baird; many nieces and nephews, and friends. Jim went to North High School and then enlisted into the Navy in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Jim most recently worked for the City of Columbus before retiring in 2016. Jim loved tinkering around on small projects and trying to come up with the “next big invention”. He loved watching the horses race at Scioto Downs where he spent many enjoyable evenings with friends. Jim’s biggest pride and joy were his two daughters and his three grandchildren. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to his hospice team through OhioHealth at Home Hospice care and to all the wonderful staff at Kobacker House. No public services will be held; Jim will be remembered privately amongst close friends and family.
