Irene Helen Lape

Irene Helen Lape, age 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at her home surrounded by family, following an extended illness. She was born on September 10, 1932 in St. Mary’s, Ohio to Orval and Helen Miller, who preceded her in death. Irene married Lloyd Richard (Dick) Lape on July 26, 1952; they were married 61 years prior to his death on June 25, 2014. Irene is survived by her two daughters: Vickie (Mike) Dickrede of Elida and Shelly (David) Fenton of Spencerville; Five grandchildren: Chuck (Tressa) Mulholland of Spencerville, Angie Mulholland of Canal Winchester, Adam (Erin) Lape of Brighton, Michigan, Megan (Joe) Sharpe of Spencerville, and Emilie (Bryan) Brissette of Lima; Ten great grandchildren: Alyssa (Devon) Cook, Kacie (Chas Homan) Mulholland, Julie Mulholland Whitney Mulholland, Victoria Mulholland, Bennett Mulholland, Caden Lape, Chloe Lape, Aurora Sharpe and Ryker Brissette; Two great-great granddaughters: Payton Cook and Gianna Cook; and one sister, Marie Longstreth. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Lape, and grandson, Brent Mulholland. Irene was active in the Friends Church for many years. She loved watching her grandkids in all of their activities. Irene enjoyed selling tickets at the Spencerville football and basketball games over the years. A celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spencerville Athletic Association in her memory, or to the family.
