Henry (Hank) Thomas Lewandowski was born 6/16/1947 in Hamtramck, MI. He passed away On 12/6/2020 in Columbus, OH after an eleven-day ICU battle with COVID-19. He is survived by his spouse of 12 years; Stacey Lewandowski of Columbus, OH. He is survived by 3 children from a previous marriage; Jeremy (Tonya) Lewandowski; Jessica (Hans) Hegge; Kristen Lewandowski; 2 children by marriage; Emma (Kannen) Murdock; Cailin (Zachary) Dzialowski. He is survived by 11 grandchildren with 1 due in March 2021. Hank’s parents Stanley J. and Dorothy A. (Czeszenski) Lewandowski are deceased. He has 5 surviving siblings: Greg (Sharon) Lewandowski; Carol (Bob) Whiteley; Theresa (Jeff) Lewandowski; Carl (Sally) Lewandowski; Phillip (Rebecca) Lewandowski Hank moved with his family to Detroit, MI in 1960, next door to St. Raymond’s Catholic Church. He graduated H.S. from St. Florian’s in 1965 and was drafted into the Army where he served one year of basic training and one year in Vietnam. Shortly after returning from Vietnam he went to Wayne State University and received his Bachelor’s of Science in Education Art and Social Science in 1974. He got his Master’s degree at Oakland University in Special Education In 1979. He then went on to achieve his Education Specialist degree before completing a Certification Program in Autism Special Education and Teaching at Oakland University in 2005. He loved all outdoor activities and had a passion for sports. He loved coaching lacrosse and football for many HS leagues, including the Catholic League in the Detroit metro area. Hank’s career encompassed being an art teacher as well as a teacher of severely emotionally impaired students for more than 20 years. Hank also specialized in Autism Spectrum Disorders teaching grades 9-12. He became an Intervention Specialist as well as a Facilitator for Crisis Prevention Intervention. His career spanned 42 years. Hank developed an Outward-Bound Program and a Ski club, working with students competing in the Special Olympics Hank was cremated in Ohio.
