Helen Jean Kelly known to many as “Lady J” was born February 13th, 1954 in Logan, WV to Ruth and Paul Kelly. Helen was the only child of her parents union, But had many cousin. Being an only child growing up in West Virginia, Helen was a pretty private person. She enjoyed spending time with her cousins Patricia Peoples and Doris Elmore. They would often go to Helen's home playing records, singing and dancing. Helen sung in Junior Choir at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist and was also a member of West Virginia Harmonettes. Early 1974 Helen received her High School Diploma from Logan High School. Later in 1974 she had her first child, Althea Kelly. In 1975 Helen decided to relocate from WV to Columbus, OH with her child and parents. Later in 1975 she had her second child Andre Richards. Since leaving West Virginia and starting life in a new state Helen dedicated her life to her parents and raising her children. In early 1977, Helen had her third and final child, Andrea Richards. Helen didn't have any hobbies but she enjoyed cooking and keeping a very clean home. Helen and her longtime spouse operated a restaurant called “Soul To Soul”. Helen is preceded in death by her Maternal Grandparents; Roy and Edna Ragland; Paternal Grandparents; Peter Kelly Sr. and Lena Lewis; Parents, Paul and Ruth Kelly; Daughter, Althea Kelly; Grandchild, Ricky Darthard; Great-Grandchildren, Adonis Dalton II and Miracle Kelly; Four Aunts and Three Uncles. Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory her Two Living Children, Andre Richards Sr. and Andrea Richards; Aunts, Mary Cunningham, Edna Mae Jones, and Anna Bailey; Significant Other, Lloyd Richards; Grandchildren, Alexis Kelly, Cody Davis, Adonis (Rickyrah) Dalton Sr., Andre Darthard, Jeavion Darthard, Kaniya Kelly, Alaysia Davis, Andre Richards Jr., and D’Andre Richards; Great-Grandchildren, Nevaeh Kelly and Arianna Dalton; Many Cousins; The Leona/Olmstead Family; The Allen/Kirk Family; Charlene Hawkins and Children; Closest Cousins, Patricia Peoples and Doris Elmore; Best Friends, Phyllis Bowman, Clintona Sigers, Debbie Davis, and Effie Sullens. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at New Day Church of The Living God, 487 N. Champion Ave. Columbus, OH 43203 at 11:00am followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00pm with Pastor Litt Ross Howard officiating.
