Eric Steven Robirds, 49, of Plain City, OH, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 28, 2021. He was born Nov 21, 1971, to the late Steve and Cathy Robirds of Ada, OH. After graduating from Ohio Northern University with a dual major in Chemistry and Physics and a minor in Mathematics, he went on to SUNY Buffalo to pursue a doctorate in Chemistry. While in Buffalo, he also studied Tae Keon Do and achieved the rank of first degree black belt. Over the course of his career, he held positions with Henkel Surface Technologies, GFS chemical, and Quanta Biodesign. He treasured some time as a stay-at-home dad and later got into the hearing aid industry with Miracle Ear and HLT. He completed Blackfoot training then eventually became Scoutmaster of his son’s Boy Scout troop 873. He enjoyed camping and bush-crafting as well as leatherwork, knife making/collecting, and woodworking (including the making of longbows); he was also skilled at crochet. He had a vast collection of Stephen King books and movies and was an aficionado of movies in general. He and his wife would frequently speak to each other in movie quotes for the fun of it. He enjoyed playing chess as well as collecting chess sets and was an admitted “chocoholic”. He also enjoyed a good cigar as well as sampling bourbons. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Michelle; son, Joshua (age 15); daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” (age 11); sister, Amanda Robirds of Forest and brother, Scott Robirds of Ada. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
