Elizabeth Poeppelman

June 10, 1951 — September 16, 2023

Elizabeth (Betty) Poeppelman went to heaven on 9/16/2023. She was born 6/10/1951 in Lima Ohio and was the daughter of the late Roman and Blanche Poeppelman. She is preceded in death by her brother Fredrick Poeppelman.


Betty graduated from St. Joseph High School and attended Columbus Business School. She was employed by The Ohio State University for 40 years and received multiple awards. She loved OSU sports and was a true Buckeye. She also loved hanging out with friends, movies and fish fry Fridays. Betty was a cancer survivor and enjoyed cancer survivor cruises.

Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Everyone says that she always had a smile on her face, and was fun to be around.

Surviving family members are Brother, Norman (Susan) Poeppelman; Sister-in-law, Deborah Poeppelman; Nieces and Nephews, Nathan (Megan) Poeppelman, Randee (Jeff) Guilkey, Jennifer (Mark) Longfellow, Cindy (Keith) Hilbish, and Jeffrey Poeppelman; Great Nieces and Nephews, Katie Longfellow, Noah Longfellow, Grayson Hilbish, Christian Hilbish, Charlee Guilkey, Jacob Poeppelman, Luke Guilkey, Scarlett Poeppelman and Cole Poeppelman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Westerwood Fellowship Hall in Independent Living (5800 Forest Hills Blvd, Columbus) on November 1, 2023 from 2 – 5.

A Celebration of Life will also be held at Otterbein Senior Life Community, Main Campus, Meyer Room (11230 OH-364, St. Mary’s) on November 4, 2023 from 1 - 4.

The family would like to thank Westerwood and all her friend’s support while her family could not be with her during her struggles. Betty expressed how much she loved living at Westerwood, and treasured all her friendships.
