Edward L. Morrisey, known affectionately as Ed to his friends and family, passed away after a long illness on March 5, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on November 28, 1944, in Lima, Ohio, Ed was a man of integrity, warmth, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and generosity.

Ed's early years in Lima set the stage for a life full of achievement and service. He carried the spirit of his hometown with him when he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he eventually passed away, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved mother Mary, father Walter, and his brother Jack, who instilled in him the values of hard work and kindness that he would carry throughout his life.

Ed's educational journey was marked by his intelligence and commitment to excellence. He graduated from The Ohio State University, where he laid the foundation for a successful career. His thirst for knowledge led him to further his education at Xavier University, where he obtained a Master's degree. With his academic achievements in hand, Ed became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Ohio, a testament to his dedication and skill in his field.

His professional life was as varied as it was distinguished. Ed honorably served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran, a period of his life that he always held in high regard. He then went on to work at the Battelle Corporate Office, where his sharp mind and strong work ethic made him a respected figure. Ed's career also included his involvement with the Institute of Internal Auditors in Maitland, Fl. and his entrepreneurial venture as a licensed real estate agent in Florida. His varied career paths showcased his adaptability and his constant desire to learn and grow.

Ed's interests outside of work were as diverse as his professional endeavors. An avid hunter, he found peace and joy in the great outdoors. His hands were rarely still, as he was also skilled in quilting and needlework, hobbies that reflected his meticulous and artistic nature. Golf was another passion of Ed's, providing him with both challenge and relaxation. Above all, he cherished the time spent barbecuing with his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Sally Morrisey, who was his partner in all things and his rock during his illness. His son, William Morrisey, and grandson, Brandon Morrisey, will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. His brothers, Bob Morrisey (Phyl) and Dick Morrisey (Sue), and his sister, Margret Weis (John), will miss his guidance and unwavering support. Ed's many nieces, nephews, and friends will also feel the absence of his wise counsel and his selfless nature.

Those who knew Ed would describe him as handy, intelligent, and selfless. He had a knack for fixing things, a brilliant mind that could solve any problem, and a heart that was always ready to help others. His presence was a source of comfort and safety to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ed Morrisey's life was one of purpose and joy. He touched many lives with his kindness, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless ways in which he enriched our lives. Ed's memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
