Dorothy A Laferty

Dottie A. Laferty (Dorothy) 91 of Delaware, OH, beloved wife of 72 years of Bascom Laferty, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Floyd County, Kentucky on April 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Maude E. Kabal and William H. Lambert, Sr.

Dottie and Bascom settled in Columbus, Ohio in 1951. Dottie loved being a wife and mother and cherished her extended family. Dottie was a long time member of the United Methodist Church no matter where she lived. Dottie worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life and was an expert with organization and numbers!

Besides her husband, Bascom, Dottie is survived by her two daughters, Lynn and her husband, Russell, and Lysa and her husband, Ken; four grandchildren Russell, II and his wife, Julie, Allison and her fiancé, Rick, Ryan and his wife, Joan and Alex; her adored great-granddaughter and namesake, Eleanor Dorothy and by Bailey, the family dog. Dottie is also survived by her beloved brother Bill, Jr. and his wife, Dottie’s adopted third daughter, Jane. Dottie was predeceased by her sisters Ella Rose Hill and Ethel Valdez.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family. The family requests no flowers. Donations in Dottie’s name may be made to Our Lady of Bethlehem Preschool, 4567 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43214.
