Donald Eugene Ballinger Sr.

Donald Eugene Ballinger Sr., 54, of Newark passed peacefully in his home on Friday, June 2nd surrounded by his loving family. Donnie was a devoted father to his four sons- Donald Jr./ DJ of Columbus, Justin of Columbus, Jason (Nakiah) of Newark, and Zack (Audrey) of Newark and Grandfather to Finnick. Born March 12, 1969 to the late Mary Ann Ballinger in Columbus. In 1986, Donnie met the mother of his sons and life long best friend, Mary.

Donnie enjoyed spending time with his boys, watching movies, listening to music, and time spent around the fire pit. He had a fondness for lighthouses, sail boats, and the water. He was a kind soul with a sassy sense of humor. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was an extremely hard working man, who dedicated 34 years as an STNA; 15 of those years most recently employed by the Laurels of Mt. Vernon. In addition to his sons, daughter in law and grandson, Donnie is survived by Mary and Mike Merluzzi, former mother in law Effie Enmen, good friend Ginny Downs, numerous friends, siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on June 24th, 2023 from 1pm to 4pm with a service beginning at 3pm at Newark Free Will Baptist Church located at 37 Westmoor Ave. Newark, Ohio 43055.
