Dina Michelle Sykora of Centerville, Ohio died on March 22, 2020 from an aggressive, inoperable brain tumor. Dina was born on September 15, 1971, in Detroit, to Tony and Gloria Sykora. She attended Croswell-Lexington public schools from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1990. Raised on a farm near Applegate, she rode horses, ran track, sailed, scuba-dived, played in Lake Huron, traveled cross-country, worked in Port Sanilac at Foley’s grocery store and at a marina, and enjoyed her many wonderful friends. Dina graduated from Michigan State University with an engineering degree in 1995. At MSU, she met Steve Young, whom she married in Islamorada, Florida. Both engineers, she and Steve worked in Chicago then moved west to Portland, Oregon, where they skied, mountain biked, windsurfed, and had two children, Nolan (15) and Ava Rain (12). They relocated to Centerville, Ohio, where Nolan, a sophomore, plays varsity lacrosse and Ava Rain rides horses. In Centerville, Dina also tutored math, played tennis, hiked, and biked. She adventured with family in Oregon, Islamorada, and Michigan. Dina is survived by Steve, Nolan, and Ava Rain of Centerville, her parents Tony and Gloria of Islamorada and Applegate, her sister Alycia (Tim Hill) of Bend, Oregon, and extended family and friends. Her family expresses appreciation to all her friends from early childhood and those she made through her life. “As you depart us, of us you take a part.”
