Deborah Sue Douglas

Deborah Sue Douglas, affectionately known as "Trouble" for her playful spirit and zest for life, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, in Thornville, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 9, 1955, in Ohio, Deborah's journey through life was marked by her infectious laughter, boundless love, and an insatiable appetite for adventure.

Deborah's life was a tapestry woven with the love of her devoted husband, Michael Douglas, and the joyous chaos of a large, spirited family. She was a beloved mother to Adam (Carla) Denman, Tyler (Shirley) Oberle, Ashley (Josh) West, and Jonathan (Jessica) Oberle. Her legacy further blossomed with the laughter and wonder of her 18 grandchildren and the sweet embrace of her 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.

A woman of many passions, Deborah found solace in the thrill of horse racing and the freedom of road trips that often led to unexpected destinations. Her hands, ever-creative, brought beauty into the world through woodworking and painting, while her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing heart. Evenings for Deborah were best spent with a glass of fine wine, surrounded by the laughter of friends and the warmth of family.

Those who knew Deborah will remember her as the embodiment of love, an adventurer at heart, and a soul with a sense of humor that could light up the darkest of rooms. She navigated life's twists and turns with grace and an unwavering optimism that inspired all around her.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on August 11, 2024 at the West Jefferson VFW from 2-6pm.
