Dawn Pernell

Dawn Marie Pernell, 45, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on December 13th after a 3 year battle with lung cancer whilst surrounded by friends and family alike. One nurse noted that there were more people visiting Dawn than she’d ever seen in her career.

Dawn was born on July 27th, 1978 to Kathy Sims & Mike Pernell in Columbus Ohio.  Dawn took passion to many things, many of those involving people. Whether it was art classes with friends or concerts of her favorite bands, she shined a light to those around her. Dawn had two sons. Devan, born 1997; and Riley, born 2003. Her favorite place was the beach, whether it be Myrtle, Cape Cod, or in her later years Hilton Head Island with mother Kathy and step-father Scott Sims, if there was anywhere else she’d rather be, it was the beach. Those who knew Dawn knew her for her positive attitude and stubborn demeanor, which will not be forgotten for quite some time.

Dawn is survived by Grandmother Carolyn, parents Kathy and Mike, Step-Mother Michele, Step-Father Scott, Sister Jennifer (Mario) Chavez, sons Devan and Riley, and many others. At many points in Dawn’s life, she remarked she did not have many friends; simply one large family around her at all times.
