SIMMONS, David Eric “Dave” age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 28, 2020. Dave was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 21, 1963, to James and Orpha Simmons, and is the loving and devoted father to Trava Simmons. Dave was a resident of Columbus, Ohio for most of his life. Dave obtained his GED and served in the Army Reserves where he was Honorably Discharged. Dave Loved to Fish and often helped do work at The Catch of the Day Fish Farm and had worked previously at the Columbus Airport with a Shuttle Service. Dave’s favorite thing, by far, was being a “Roadie” for many years with the popular local rock band “The Brothers Grimm”. Dave was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, Orpha and James Simmons. He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Trava Simmons, sister, Suzanne (Jeremy) Johnson, niece Amanda (Mark) Bowes and devoted aunt, Jane Simmons, aunt, Argiro Williams, and many cousins; Nick (Becki) Luddy, Curtis Williams Jr, Ann King, Diane (Mike) Ingles, Charles Barlow, Jeff (Janelle) Barlow, Dan (Angie) Barlow, Mark (Michelle) Derham, Leslie (Mike) Bistrek, Kelly (Donald) Maine, Lori (Joel) Atkinson, Matt Simmons, and Jenny Simmons. Dave was also considered an “Uncle” to Nicholas Derham and Brittany Conners since he was a frequent caretaker for them when they were young. Dave had several life-long friends who survive him, including Bill Freter, Joe Grimm, Bob Grimm, and many others. Dave loved being a Dad to Trava, spending time with his friends and family, and would help out whenever and wherever needed. He also had a love of music, especially many great guitarists. We love you Dave and will forever miss you. We hope you will be listening to “Queensryche” and “Led Zeppelin” while resting easy in Heaven. We are asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Leaf Crematorium to help the family cover the unexpected costs. We would be very appreciative and grateful for even the smallest donations. There will be an internment service held at Kingswood Memorial Park, 8230 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035 on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date so that all of his friends and family can gather together when we hope Covid19 will no longer hinder gatherings.
