Dave

April 14, 1949 — September 3, 2024

David Lee "Dave" Pennington, an intelligent, loving, and creative soul, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on April 16, 1949, Dave lived a life marked by an unwavering devotion to his family and sitting by the fire.

A true family man, Dave is survived by his beloved spouse Carolyn, with whom he shared a life full of love and cherished moments. He was a guiding light for his many children and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss his wisdom, his gentle teasing, and his unwavering support. Even while mourning, they take pride and comfort in the legacy of kindness and creativity he has left behind. Also surviving Dave is his sister, Kay Irwin, who will miss him dearly.

Dave was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Christy Pennington, and son, David J. Pennington, whose memories he held close to his heart. His granddaughter, Candy Pennington, also left this world before him and is surely there to welcome him with open arms. He joins his parents, Russell and Flora Pennington, and his sisters, Janice Anderson and Rea Rankin, in a place of peace and eternal rest.

Those who knew Dave will fondly remember his trips to Tennessee, a place he adored for its natural beauty and serenity. Camping was not just a hobby for Dave; it was his favorite escape from the city life. The campfire's glow illuminated his greatest stories, his hearty laugh echoing through the woods, and his knowledge of the world was both impressive and endearing. His numerous life exploits will continue to be retold by his loved ones, keeping the spark of his spirit alive.

Dave's intellect shone through in every endeavor he undertook. His creative mind found joy in solving problems, crafting solutions, and envisioning projects that not only entertained but also benefited those around him. His loving nature was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding his interactions and relationships throughout his life. His friends and extended family will miss his generous heart, his thoughtful advice, and the comfort of his presence.

In every facet of life, Dave was a dedicated and passionate individual. Whether engaging in spirited conversation, sharing his skills with others, or simply enjoying the silent beauty of a sunrise in the mountains, his approach to life and learning was both heartfelt and inspiring.

As we say goodbye to Dave, we celebrate a life that exemplified the best of what it means to be human: intelligence that enlightened, love that strengthened, and creativity that beautified the world. His memory will continue to guide and influence all who were lucky enough to cross his path.

In the twilight of his life, Dave Pennington returned to the stars, leaving behind a world made brighter by his journey through it. A constellation of memories, glowing with love and reverence, is what remains—a treasure map of the heart, leading us back to the moments we shared and the wisdom he imparted. Though his physical presence has faded, the essence of Dave—a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend—endures, and his story continues in the lives of those who loved him.
