It is with sadness the family of Daniel D. Emch announces his passing on November 4, 2019, at age 81. Born May 9, 1938, to the late Oscar “Dutch” Emch and Marjorie Emch Pinkerton, Dan grew up in Ohio and graduated from Girard High School in 1956. A graduate of Kent State University with a degree in history, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Dan was a friend to everyone he knew, a storyteller, a writer, a devoted Grandpa, avid Cleveland Indians fan, a music lover, cook, mentor, and positive force. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jackie; his sister, Jackie Felix; his children, Ingrid (James Hunley), Michael “Dutch” (Sheryl), and Gerry Cannon (Lori Young); grandchildren Sadie and Noah Emch, Ian and Grace Hunley, and Casey Cannon; nieces and nephews Dan Brown, Susi Bivens, Heidi Brown, and Matt Felix, and many other relatives and special friends. Along with his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Herb Brown; his brother-in-law, Frank Felix; and his nephew Curt Brown. According to Dan’s wishes, a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 21, with visitation from 10:00-11:00am, memorial service at 11:00am, and a light lunch to follow.
