Colsen (Colt) Howard Ball, 72, finished his journey here on July 23rd, 2024. Colsen was born in Oneida, Tennessee on October 21, 1951 to Charles and Dorothy (Shackleford) Ball.
Private First-Class Colsen Ball Served 6 years with honor and distinction in the United States Army as a military police officer and dog-handler during the Vietnam War; receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and two marksmanship badges. He served two years on active duty at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland and his remaining nearly 4 years with the reserves back home in Johnstown, Ohio. He then found joy in working at the Kroger Bakery, from where he later retired.
Not only did he serve his country, Colsen was also an amazing brother, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend. He had an unmatched sense of humor (king of dad jokes), providing a smile to anyone who had the privilege of meeting him, no matter how briefly. His kindness and generosity were also unsurpassed. He provided a safe place for all to be and a safe person to confide in. He was always kind to those in need, even to those he knew very little or not at all. Colsen was a great support to everyone he loved and always had words of wisdom. He loved all and was loved by many. Colsen’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments and his great-grandchildren made him laugh endlessly.
He was survived by his brother Denzel Ball and his children Donovon Ball and Heather (Lew) Canter, his grandkids Merrick Ball, Dalton Canter, and Treva (Scott) Hurler, and his great-grandkids Lena Hurler, Easton Hurler, and Diana Hurler. His nieces Chandra(Vinnie) Balducci, Charlotte Ball, and Abigail (Daniel) Blanton as well as his nephew Nathan Ball. Tracy Johnson, a long-time family friend, and his best friend Sabrina Howard also survived him.
He is preceded in death by his father Charles Ball, his mother Dorothy Ball, and his son Sean Ball.
At his request there will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life with close family on an undetermined date. In lieu of flowers, you may plant a tree in his honor or donate to any pet shelter. If you choose to send flowers, contact Heather to provide a receiving address.
Thank you to those who loved him, as he loved you all dearly. His memory will be shared with every joke, every laugh, and every smile. He is now at peace with his deeply missed son, mother, and father.
