Clyde ‘Ray’ Barnett, 68, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, died November 13th at Fairhope Hospice in Lancaster, Ohio. He was born May 17, 1956 in Detroit Michigan to the late Billy J Barnett and Malta Caldwell. He was also preceded in death by his sister Rebecca.
Ray grew up in east Columbus and graduated from Walnut Ridge HS then joined the Navy where he served aboard ship and traveled the world. Known for his love of sports, he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, was an avid golfer and loved watching high school sports with his friends as well as being a big fan of the OSU Buckeyes. His favorite sports has been watching his granddaughter Ellis play soccer and tried to never miss a game.
Ray was a wonderful husband, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by everyone who knew him – a genuine, nice person who was also a bit of a prankster and who always took time to truly listen with a ready shoulder to lean on when anyone needed it.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, stepdaughter Shelley (Ty) Trainer, granddaughter Ellis Trainer, brother William (Eileen) Barnett, nephew William Barnett, niece Crystal (Chris) Fiorelli.
Ray has chosen to be cremated with a celebration of life for friends and family at a date and time yet to be determined.
