Carol Anne Park

October 16, 1960 — February 14, 2022

Dr. Carol Anne Park- 10/16/1960-2/14/2022. Passed away after a long illness following a car accident in 2020. She was a 1978 Graduate of Girard High School, graduated with a BS from Kent in Zoology/Chemistry and her Masters and a PhD in Immunogenetics from The Ohio State University. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Annalee (Scott) Park and Father, Al W Park; Grandparents, Cyril and Myrtle (Langdon) Scott/ Albert M. Park/Della Pearl (Barney) Park. She leaves behind sisters, Debbie Wiant and Wendy Park; nephews, Sean, Timothy Jr. and Nick Wiant; Great Aunt, Nellie Johnson (John Johnson) (Aug 4 2020); Cousins, Johnny Johnson (Terry Matarozzi), Jane Johnson (Mike O’Brien, Krystal Gordon, Rachel Bruls), Jackie Johnson (Duncan McGrath, Indigo and Rowan Johnson) and her two beloved cats, Mozzie and Nene. She adored animals and taught at The Ohio State University in equine reproduction. Her passion was teaching. She was a tough teacher and I’m sure the bane of the existence of some but to others she was a port in the storm for students that didn't follow the path most taken. She also loved science fiction was a treckie, scaper and was an avid reader. Dr. Carol Park started working at Columbus Torah Academy in August of 2016. She taught Math and Sciences to students in grades 7-12. Upon hiring, Dr. Park expressed hesitation over teaching 7th grade math, as she was more accustomed to older students in higher level science courses. After that first year, Carol embraced the role and took tremendous joy in her youngest students' mastery of foundational concepts. During lunch or any other free moment, Carol made her room available for any students who needed a different place to go. As a proud introvert, Carol was on a mission to make sure that other introverts feel comfortable and understood at school. Dr. Park's demanding high standards for punctuality, preparedness, and effort have made a lasting impression on all of her students. She will be dearly missed but not forgotten. A memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to your favorite animal charity or to the Columbus Torah Academy: https://www.torahacademy.org/give-to-cta/
