Bret Thomas Hoskinson

Bret Thomas Hoskinson, was born June 12, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio. Bret was the son of the late Evelyn Mae Hoskinson. He was preceded in death by his nephew Jeremiah Hallett and brother Terry Hallett. Bret is a 1979 graduate of Highland High School, Sparta Ohio. He attended college and briefly played football for Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware Ohio. He has worked for Anthem for 35 years and made many friends there. Bret coached baseball for numerous years for Marengo and HYO. He also helped the wrestling team at Highland post-graduation. Bret was a lifelong resident of Marengo. Bret touched many lives and everyone knew him as Uncle Bret. He didn’t know a stranger. Always friendly and willing to help anyone. Bret cared deeply for all the kids he coached over the years and created lasting bonds. Pushing them to do their best in their passions and with their grades. He believed school was just as important as the win. He enjoyed playing poker and looking at old hot rods. He had a quick wit and loved a good laugh, mostly at the expense of his nephew Bryan and his sister Richie. He was the big little brother to her. Bret enjoyed spending time and having fun with his family. He was a huge fan of Andy Griffith. Bret was a big Cleveland fan, whether it be baseball, basketball, or football. He is survived by his sister Richie Talbott (Bruce), his nephew Bryan Hallett (Brandy), nephew Eirik Potter (Lori), great-nephews Zane, Nathan, Elijah, Ethan, David, Connor, and his great-nieces Leah and Delaney. The family will hold a Celebration of Bret’s Life June 28th 6-8pm at the Marengo United Methodist Church in Marengo Ohio at 8 North Main Street. Graveside burial will be held at a later date with close family and friends attending. The family wants to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and kind words. Uncle Bret was well loved and is greatly missed by all. Celebrate all the good times you had with him.
