Brenda Cooke Garcia, 68, North Augusta, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest surrounded by loved ones on February 07, 2022. She was the eldest daughter of the late Walter and Erma Cooke, formerly of Blythe, Georgia, born July 19, 1953 in Millville, New Jersey. Brenda was a graduate of Hephzibah High School Class of 1971. She received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree alongside her mother Erma in 1972 At Augusta Technical College. Brenda worked as a nurse throughout the local CSRA area for nearly 45 years before retirement. Her career spanned across many different medical specialties. In the years prior to her retirement, she really found a calling in Geriatric Nursing. She loved caring for the many seniors and their families as they transitioned into Assisted Living. As the eldest child of 7, being a helper came naturally to her. She was a mother type figure to many over the years. Brenda had three biological children but “adopted” so many others as her kids. Always with an open door and a shoulder to catch your tears. Never one to turn away a wandering soul. She was the safe ride at 3am, the “Here’s a hot meal because you look hungry”, and the “It’s okay, tell me what’s wrong and we can figure it out” type. Always ready to help where and how she could. She had a wonderful sense of humor and never knew a stranger. Although she was never blessed with her own grandchildren, she had countless “rent-a-grandkids” and she loved spoiling them all. Brenda was a loving soul and will be thoroughly missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Erma Cooke, her brother Robert “Red” Cooke, and her niece Patricia A. Cooke II. She is survived by daughters Faye Malcolm (Greg), Jessica Green, her son David Green Jr., and her siblings Jasper Cooke (Judy), Walter Cooke Jr. (Sandy), Wanda Angelle (Doug), Roger Cooke (Judy), and Erma Cooke. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
