Bonnie Jo Young

Bonnie Jo Young, affectionately known as Nana , went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2023. She was born October 7, 1953 to Everett and Lucy Mayes in Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Shawnee High School. Bonnie retired from Champaign County Educational Service Center.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert Young, children Chance Young (Rachel Prior) and Amanda (Caleb) Kelley, grandchildren Liam and Remington Kelley, Tiffany Sprague and Tyler Yates, who were the light of her life. Other survivors include a sister Sharon (Gary) Blanton, nieces and nephews Carissa (David) Dalton, Jerico Dalton, Russ (Jen) Casto, Chad (Rachel) Casto, Evie, Jackson, Makenzie and Alivia Casto, sister in law Rita Casto, and cousin Jill (Jay) Flax, and her faithful dog Simon. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Bonnie enjoyed painting, crafts of any kind, collecting owls, spending time with family and friends, traveling with her gal pals “The Lady Bugs” (Jill ,Cathy and Sharon) and bird watching. She had a smile that could light up a room and an ornery streak! She loved her family fiercely and being Nana was her greatest joy. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
