Betty Jean Meade, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 21, 2024, at the age of 85 in Columbus, Ohio. Born on March 29, 1939, in Surosa, Mingo County, West Virginia.


Betty's life was one of joy, commitment, and spirited enthusiasm, which touched everyone she knew. Betty's early years in West Virginia laid the foundation for a life characterized by a deep love for her family, God, and hard work. Her warmth and generosity of spirit were evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.


Betty's early work ethic continued throughout her entire life. She was a Realtor. She proudly owned Meade's Hallmark store. In 1990, the Johnstown, Ohio area, gave Betty an Outstanding Business Person award. It reads, "The Chamber of Commerce presents this award to Betty Meade in recognition of her significant contribution to business development and the community as a whole. In 1993, Johnstown named her The Grand Marshall of the Fourth of July parade.


An avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Betty would often talk about her favorite players with a gleam in her eye and an unshakeable belief in her team. She enjoyed league bowling and her teammates. Betty was involved in Cat Rescue. She collected and enjoyed figurines, with pieces from Department 56 and Precious Moments.


Betty's legacy is one of kindness, love, and faith in God. Her life was a reflection of her values, and she will be remembered for the joy and love she brought into the world. Betty's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
